Ms. Batista is a labor & employment attorney and chair of the Hospitality and Automotive Dealership practice groups. She provides businesses with risk mitigation strategies and effective representation in litigation. Specifically, Ms. Batista successfully defends businesses against employment claims, including discrimination, harassment and retaliation, wrongful termination, wage and hour violations and breach of contract. Ms. Batista also provides workforce counseling and compliance guidance to clients, drafts and revises agreements, policies and handbooks, and conducts trainings and internal investigations. Employers need to feel secure in how they manage their employees so they can focus on their business. Ms. Batista affords her clients that security.

Ms. Longaker’s primary areas of concentration include general corporate advising, administrative hearings, and state and federal appellate litigation.  She advises start-ups and small businesses during all stages of the business’s life-cycle.  She regularly drafts organizational documents, reviews commercial leases, negotiates franchising agreements, and assists with the sale of corporate entities.  Ms. Longaker represents many businesses that require liquor licenses, including restaurants, package goods stores, agricultural producers, and manufacturers.  She represents clients before county agencies in their applications for new licenses, transfers of existing licenses, or defense of challenged licenses.  She also handles land use and zoning matters, real property transactions, and homeowners’ association matters.

Newman has been engaged in corporate and securities practice for over forty years, focusing on corporate law, private equity transactions, mergers and acquisitions, and capital formation through public offerings and private placements. Mr. Newman studies his clients’ businesses thoroughly and has made valuable contributions to a broad range of business topics such as joint ventures, product development, finance, investment banking, marketing, and personnel. Mr. Sommer has significant experience representing hotel developers and operators in all aspects of the hospitality industry.  He has represented clients in the purchase and sale of hotel properties, as well as the negotiation and closing of construction and acquisition loans and mezzanine financing for existing hotels and the development of new hospitality properties, including environmentally contaminated land in the Brownfields program.  He also represents shopping center owners, handling the purchase and financing of their commercial properties, as well as negotiating commercial retail, office, and restaurant leases. Finally, Mr. Sommer ’s practice also includes representing clients in the sports and higher education industries with regards to intellectual property licensing transactions and other commercial contracts as well as Title IX consultation with regards to sexual misconduct allegations.

Mr. Tucker has significant experience representing hotel developers and operators in all aspects of the hospitality industry. He has represented clients in the purchase and sale of hotel properties, as well as the negotiation and closing of construction loans for the development of new hospitality properties. He also represents several large regional franchisees of a national fitness chain, handling both their commercial lease transactions and the purchase and sale of franchise locations. Mr. Tucker additionally represents shopping center owners, handling the purchase and financing of their commercial properties, as well as negotiating commercial leases for tenants of those shopping centers. Finally, Mr. Tucker’s practice also includes representing clients in mergers, acquisitions, venture capital investments, intellectual property licensing transactions and other commercial contracts.
