At Offit Kurman, we are dedicated to helping every member of our team build long-term, sustainable, and rewarding relationships with our clients. Every attorney joining the firm is responsible for more than just the work they are given – they are part of an organization where each person takes ownership of their practices and future by developing new business and cultivating client relationships, leveraging all practice areas to meet client needs. We have dubbed this philosophy as our "origination culture."
An Overview
The Origination Culture program was developed to support attorneys in all phases of their career, elevating existing practices and fostering growth in less-experienced individuals. The cornerstone of the program is building successful relationships with an internal network, referral sources, existing clients, and potential clients. Throughout the program, attorneys build confidence and readiness, develop skills, and actively engage in business development efforts that align with their goals. Participants receive business development training and coaching, support, and accountability. Our process provides attorneys with the tools, resources, and support network needed to grow, and continue to grow, a practice.
Group Programming
A curriculum of marketing and business development training is provided through a blend of seminars, interactive workshops, and group discussion. Group discussion allows for the sharing of ideas, success stories, and lessons learned, as well as identifying potential teaming opportunities. At each meeting, practical take-aways allow attorneys to identify realistic action items in connection with their individual plans and goals.
Origination Culture training sessions provide a foundation of knowledge and skills. For attorneys who are ready and well-positioned to take their efforts to the next level, individual business development coaching builds on that foundation.
Masterminds
For successful business developers with strong books of business who want to continue to grow, we offer Masterminds - discussion groups facilitated by business development professionals. Masterminds participants discuss business development efforts, share different perspectives, explore cross-marketing opportunities, develop action plans, and promote accountability.
Individual Business Development Coaching
Business development coaching is a highly interactive process during which the coach and attorney work together to define the attorney’s goals, determine plans, and address challenges. Each coaching session is tailored to address the specific goals of the attorney. As a certified professional coach, Marianne Lee, Director of Attorney Development and Origination, asks thought-provoking questions, encourages exploration of multiple perspectives, and provides support as each attorney works to achieve success as they define it.
