Theodore A. (Ted) Offit, Chairman of Offit Kurman, has expertly steered the firm to prestigious Am Law 200 status. As a co-founder and former CEO, he has been instrumental in transforming the firm from a small boutique practice to a prominent full-service law firm with a national growth vision. Ted's extensive expertise in business, finance, entrepreneurship and law enables him to effectively manage the firm's growth while providing valuable counsel to clients on complex legal matters and business transactions. He often serves as general counsel and board level advisor to clients, leveraging his profound understanding of the legal and business landscape. As a former board member for several nonprofits, including the University of Maryland Alumni Association and the United States Olympic Committee Board for Bobsled and Skeleton, Ted has demonstrated exceptional nonprofit governance skills. A proud alumnus of the University of Maryland, Ted, alongside his wife Risa, enjoys life in Park City, Utah, as devoted parents and grandparents.

William “Billy” Cannon is the firm’s Managing Principal and heads the Office of Managing Principal.  The Office of Managing Principal is responsible for the management of the firm’s Practice of Law Division, focusing on practice group management and performance, timekeeper performance and morale, cross referrals, quality assurance/quality control, marketing and organic growth.

Billy sits on the boards for Special Love, a non-profit that provides cancer families a community of support, and the Willie Strong Foundation, a non-profit that raises funds to find a cure for pediatric brain cancer.

John Hurley is an Executive Director with Offit Kurman.  With more than 30 years of business development, marketing, and operations experience in the legal, management consulting and technology industries, he is responsible for ensuring smooth operations throughout the firm.  He fosters a high-performance, client-focused culture by collaborating with partners and firm leadership to deliver service excellence through comprehensive understanding of firm’s clients, market needs and market trends.  John earned his B.S. from University of Maryland.

Lisa Kloster is the Chief Financial Officer of Offit Kurman. She is a strategic finance executive with over three decades of experience in accounting and finance. Prior to joining Offit Kurman in 2021, she was the CFO of an employee-owned management consulting firm, where she was instrumental in growing the business leading to a successful sale of the company. She was also formerly an audit partner with PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP. As CFO of Offit Kurman, she is responsible for partnering with the Firm’s leaders to drive growth while overseeing all financial matters including treasury, budgeting, accounting and financial reporting, billing and collections, client engagement and tax. She is focused on optimizing Offit Kurman’s financial structure to support the company’s growth, driving cost initiatives and managing performance to the Firm’s strategic plan.

Russell Berger is a business counselor serving the needs of small and mid-sized businesses as an outside general counsel and as a labor and employment attorney. As outside general counsel, Mr. Berger is a strategic partner who helps growth-minded clients navigate the opportunities and challenges, seen and unseen, that come with running a business. A thoughtful and proactive problem solver, he leverages the resources of Offit Kurman to provide the exact experience and knowledge that clients need on a range of matters. As a top-rated labor and employment attorney, Mr. Berger provides business counsel to employers on employee matters. He is well-versed in litigating in both state and federal courts.

As the Director of Business Development, Marianne Lee helps attorneys to build the practices they want. Working with a team of business development professionals, Marianne guides strategic efforts with a focus on relationships and client service. Marianne has expanded the firm’s Origination Culture program to provide business development training and coaching to attorneys in all phases of their careers, working with both groups and individuals.

Marianne has over 20 years of experience in law firms, including marketing, business development, and professional development roles in AmLaw 100 and AmLaw 200 firms.

Marianne is a certified professional coach and is a member of the Legal Marketing Association and the Professional Development Consortium.

Rachel Fuller is the Director of Recruiting and Recruiting Analytics with Offit Kurman. She is responsible for oversight and management of the attorney recruitment team. Rachel’s primary focus is to drive firm growth and geographic expansion through attorney hiring and group affiliations. Rachel graduated from the University of Maryland, College Park with a degree in finance. She lives in Woodbine, MD with her husband and two daughters.

Tim Rodgers is the Director of Information Technology for Offit Kurmin. He drives the technology vision and is responsible for the IT team, technology systems and infrastructure. Tim is a senior technology executive with 30 plus years of hands-on experience across a broad range of industries including government, manufacturing, non-profit and legal. For the past two decades he has served in a technology leadership role and driven technology strategy, vision, innovation, architecture, engineering and product development. Tim holds a B.S. in Information Technology Management and an M.B.A. from Loyola University Maryland.

Tony Gerdes guides Offit Kurman’s Knowledge and Innovation Department. A skillful educator with over 25 years of experience, Tony designed the award-winning department to address three key pillars of our employees’ experience: Work, Connect and Grow. From initial software training and upskilling to engagement and networking programs to professional development opportunities, the K&I Department serves as the programming hub for the firm. Tony holds a Legal Lean Sigma Yellow Belt, a B.A. from Gettysburg College, and has pursued advanced studies at Heriot-Watt University, Johns Hopkins University and RADA. In addition, Tony serves as a Contributing Member of LTC4 (the Legal Technology Core Competencies Certification Coalition) and co-developer of the G2 Communication Model™ and related Aspire leadership development content.

Sam is a seasoned HR executive with 25+ years of experience in strategic employee management and aligning scalable HR programs to solve business problems. He has worked in a wide range of industries, including retail, medical, automotive, travel, finance, distribution and legal. His diverse expertise stems from roles at top-ranked employers including a Fortune Magazine Best 100 Company, a multinational management consulting firm and as head of HR for a private investment firm's portfolio company. Sam's passion lies in fostering excellence through collaborative and focused HR processes across all organizational levels. He holds a B.A. and M.B.A. from the University at Buffalo. Sam is an active and accredited Senior Professional in Human Resources from the HR Certification Institute (SPHR) and Senior Certified Professional from the Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM-SCP).
