Rawan Hmoud

Principal, Practice Group Leader - Family Law (North)

Rawan Hmoud is a dedicated matrimonial and family law attorney with nearly two decades of experience serving clients in New Jersey and has expanded her practice to include New York. As a principal attorney and Practice Group Leader for Family Law (North) at Offit Kurman, Rawan ensures that her clients receive passionate and personalized legal representation tailored to their unique needs, whether they are contemplating marriage, navigating divorce, facing complex financial matters, contesting custody, or anticipating interstate/international jurisdictional challenges.

Rawan’s legal career is further distinguished by her involvement in significant cases, including the published New Jersey Appellate Division decision Tannen v. Tannen, which addressed the intersection of trusts and divorce. This decision has had a lasting impact on how courts handle trust distributions in matrimonial disputes.

Prior to joining Offit Kurman, Rawan was a partner at a respected boutique matrimonial law firm, focusing on intricate family law cases. Her legal journey began as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable James B. Convery, J.S.C. (retired) in Essex County’s Family Part, one of New Jersey’s busiest vicinages. This experience offered her invaluable insights into the family court process. She often volunteers as a panelist for the Matrimonial Early Settlement Program in Bergen and Essex counties to assist in resolving matters.

Rawan offers a comprehensive range of services, including divorce, alimony, equitable distribution, custody arrangements, prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, child support, and mediation. Known for her ability to navigate sensitive family law issues, she employs both strategic thinking and empathy in her practice, striving for positive outcomes for all her clients. Her commitment to clear communication and client engagement has earned her a reputation for being approachable and responsive.

A proud Seton Hall University School of Law graduate, Rawan actively engages with her legal community. She is a member of several bar associations, including the New Jersey State Bar Association, the New York State Bar Association, and the Bergen County Bar Association Family Law Committee. Rawan has served on the New Jersey Supreme Court Family Practice Committee and the District Ethics Committee. Passionate about mentoring young lawyers, she participates in legal education initiatives, sharing her knowledge and experience in family law.

In addition to her professional commitments, Rawan volunteers her time by providing pro bono legal services to underserved litigants, working with organizations like Volunteer Lawyers for Justice. Her commitment to justice for all reflects her dedication to diversity and inclusion in the legal field. Recognized as one of the Best Lawyers in America® for Family Law and honored as a Rising Star by New Jersey Super Lawyers for multiple years, Rawan continues to build her reputation as a trusted advocate in family law.*
