Veteran Estates and Trusts Attorney Laura Melia Joins Offit Kurman

BETHESDA, MD. – March 23, 2023 – Offit Kurman is pleased to welcome Laura Melia as a principal attorney in its Estates and Trusts practice. Ms. Melia is resident in the firm’s Frederick, Maryland office.

Laura Melia brings over 30 years of experience in private practice, counseling clients of all ages, backgrounds and net worth and working with them to devise comprehensive estate and business plans that provide peace of mind. Her tailored solutions are aimed at addressing client-specific goals such as the minimization of taxes, beneficiary protection, probate avoidance, charitable giving and disability planning.

Ms. Melia regularly advises on and prepares estate and tax planning documents, including wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and advance directives for health care. She represents companies, private foundations and personal representatives in the administration of estates and the conveyance of real estate and personal property. She also represents trustees in the administration, management and distribution of assets held in trust.

A long-time resident of Frederick, Maryland, Ms. Melia is actively involved in community and professional organizations. She serves on the Professional Advisors Council for the Community Foundation of Frederick County and on the Board of Directors for Citizens for the Preservation of Middletown Valley, Inc. She is a member of the Frederick County Bar Association and the Maryland State Bar Association.

Ms. Melia joined Offit Kurman from Miles & Stockbridge. She received her B.A. from Loyola University and her J.D. from the University of Baltimore School of Law.
