Offit Kurman New York Construction Law Chair Robert Herrmann Guest Lecturing and Teaching at Top Universities

November 14, 2024

Robert Herrmann, chair of Offit Kurman’s New York Construction Law Practice Group, extends his passion for law beyond his practice and into education, teaching the next generation of design professionals. This fall, he is sharing his knowledge at some of the nation’s top universities, preparing students for successful careers in construction and architecture.

“Teaching allows me to stay connected to the evolving landscape of construction law,” said Hermann. “I enjoy engaging with students and discussing the real-world implications of what they are learning. By sharing my experiences, I hope to empower students to approach their future careers with confidence and knowledge.”

Recently, Herrmann delivered a presentation on risk management at Howard University College of Engineering and Architecture, making complex concepts accessible and engaging for students. He is also teaching two classes at Tulane University, focusing on project delivery and risk management as part of their Professional Practice program.

In addition, Herrmann taught professional practice students at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he discussed risk management and important considerations for starting a firm.

Looking ahead to 2025, Herrmann will continue to serve as an adjunct professor at Columbia School of Architecture, Planning & Preservation, where he will lead an Advanced Professional Practice class for third-year master’s students. He will also continue as a visiting professor at Pratt Institute School of Architecture, teaching “Special Topics in Professional Practice” to fourth and fifth-year undergraduate students.
