For more than three decades, Margaret "Maggie" Argent has been a steady, strategic advocate for individuals and families navigating sensitive, complex family law matters. Her practice spans contested and negotiated divorces, prenuptial agreements, marital property awards, custody and visitation, child support, alimony, and protective orders involving allegations of domestic violence. Clients rely on her ability to balance legal precision with a calm, steady presence and a little bit of humor, guiding them through emotionally charged situations with clarity and a deep understanding of both immediate needs and long-term goals. Her extensive experience with financial issues, including tax and accounting considerations, business valuations, and the treatment of closely held companies or professional practices, positions her to handle the sophisticated economic aspects that frequently arise in family law disputes.
Maggie also maintains a broad commercial litigation practice in state and federal courts, as well as in AAA and FINRA arbitrations. Her work includes breach of contract matters, corporate malfeasance and alleged breaches of fiduciary duty, contract interpretation and declaratory judgment actions, restrictive covenant disputes, franchise and distribution conflicts, copyright matters, employment discrimination claims, shareholder disputes and restrictive stock agreements, and business torts, including tortious interference and unfair competition. She represents clients across a diverse range of industries, including television broadcasting and advertising, real estate development, brokerage and lending, telecommunications, construction, and commercial landlord-tenant. Her practical, business-focused approach, developed through decades of complex litigation, enables her to provide effective, solution-oriented representation in both commercial and family-related matters.
Outside the office, Maggie serves on the Board of Directors of Friends of Historic Linthicum Walks, Inc., a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving and promoting a historic farm property in Anne Arundel County. She also enjoys cooking for her extended family and spending time with her dog, Martin, whom she adopted from BARCS, a Baltimore‑area animal shelter where she previously volunteered.
