Lauren R. Davis

Principal

Lauren Davis helps employers, executives, and organizations navigate the complexities of workplace law with practical guidance and focused advocacy. She counsels clients ranging from emerging startups and nonprofit organizations to multinational corporations and Fortune 500 executives. Many of her clients come from industries including financial services, insurance, luxury apparel, high-end real estate, and the arts.

Lauren divides her practice between litigation and daily counseling. She represents employers in disputes involving restrictive covenants, trade secret misappropriation, unfair labor practice charges, discrimination, harassment, retaliation, whistleblower complaints, and wage and hour claims. She also handles employment practices liability insurance and directors and officers matters. Her courtroom and agency practice extends across New York, New Jersey, and the District of Columbia, as well as before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, National Labor Relations Board, and state and city human rights agencies. In addition, she is certified as a New Jersey court-trained mediator.

On the advisory side, Lauren provides day-to-day counsel to help clients proactively address workplace issues. She advises on hiring, terminations, layoffs, leave laws, reasonable accommodations, wage and hour compliance, and the drafting of executive, separation, and post-employment agreements. She also develops employee handbooks and policies covering equal employment opportunity, harassment, accommodations, paid time off, drug testing, and vaccinations. Clients also turn to her to conduct internal investigations into allegations of discrimination, harassment, or retaliation.

Lauren began her legal career clerking for judges in the Civil and Appellate Divisions of the New Jersey Superior Court and interning in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York.

Before entering the legal profession, Lauren worked as a freelance producer in stage, film, television, and live events. She continues her commitment to the arts as a founding board member of Sightline Arts, Inc., a nonprofit that supports innovative and socially minded projects, with a focus on expanding opportunities for women in the arts. Away from her practice, Lauren enjoys family outings to the beach with her family.
