Michelle Yeung concentrates her practice on estate and tax planning, Medicaid and Special Needs planning and trust and estate administration in New York. Michelle works closely with multigeneration families, families with special needs minor or adult children, same-sex couples, property and business owners and individuals with all levels of wealth. Michelle prepares wills and various types of trusts, such as Generation Skipping Tax Trusts (also known as dynasty trust), Credit Shelter Trusts, Medicaid Asset Protection Trusts, Supplemental Needs Trusts, Life Insurance Trusts and many more.
Michelle is the oldest of three children to her immigrant parents. She has been their helper and translator since grade school. This experience has provided her valuable perspective on the challenges of taking care of her parents as a child and now as an adult. She is able to navigate the delicate and loving relationship between child and parent when planning for yourself and your elderly parents. Michelle works closely with families to customize an estate plan that will achieve both the children’s and elderly parents’ goals and needs. Specifically, Michelle prepares long-term care plans that allow families to preserve their life savings for the next generation while ensuring the elderly parents are well provided.
In addition, Michelle works closely with families and individuals of high to ultra-high net worth to protect their assets and to minimize their Federal and New York estate tax liabilities. Each family has their unique circumstances, and they work together with Michelle to craft an asset protection and estate tax savings plan to accomplish the families’ specific wishes and goals.
Michelle graduated law school cum laude and received the 2015 Judge William J. Regan Award for demonstrating excellent proficiency in estates and surrogate’s law. While in law school, she served as Treasurer of the Asian Pacific American Law Student Associate (APALSA) and volunteered at the New York Legal Assistance Group (NYLAG) to provide estate planning services to indigent individuals and families.
Outside of work, Michelle enjoys traveling and spending time with her husband and their three young daughters.
