Offit Kurman Moves into Atlanta, Georgia Expanding Its National Footprint

Am Law 200 firm Offit Kurman announces today its expansion into Atlanta, GA with the opening of its first Georgia-based office. This marks Offit Kurman’s 19th office, furthering the firm’s growth throughout the United States.

The move into Atlanta reflects Offit Kurman’s steady, strategic growth in recent years. This expansion has broadened the firm’s service offerings and extended its geographic now with reach—from New York, down the East Coast to Georgia, and westward in California. Looking ahead, the firm is committed to deepening its presence in Atlanta, with plans to add more Georgia-based attorneys. The office will be led by seasoned and renowned Atlanta attorney Joseph M. English, who departs Taylor English Duma after nearly 20 years in leadership.

“Offit Kurman’s business strategy has focused on national expansion over the last several years expanding beyond its Mid-Atlantic birthplace to build a full-service platform that meets the evolving needs of clients nationwide and internationally,” said Offit Kurman Chairman Ted Offit. “Entering a thriving market like Atlanta is a key step in our national expansion. This move not only strengthens our ability to serve clients across the U.S. but also supports our international clients looking to establish operations in the Southeastern United States.”

The addition of Joe English reinforces Offit Kurman’s employment law and outside counsel services. "I have nothing but respect for my former firm, but the time has come to begin the next chapter of my career," said Joe English. “Offit Kurman’s unique platform, entrepreneurial culture, and client-base are an excellent fit for me. I’ve known the firm and interacted with its leadership for decades and have always felt that our philosophies around client service and the business of law were closely aligned. The synergy between us makes this affiliation the right move at the right time."

“Like Offit Kurman, Joe is deeply committed to serving mid-market companies and their owners—both personally and professionally — in thriving economic centers like Atlanta,” said Tim Lynch, President at Offit Kurman. “Atlanta is a key hub for private equity, finance, technology, entertainment, and many of the other industries and people we serve—and we see tremendous opportunity in this market. We anticipate rapid expansion of our new office aligned with our strategic priorities.”

G2. Designing Secure Practices: Cybersecurity, Data Privacy, Contractual Provisions, and Insurance Risks for Architects (4:00 PM - 5:30 PM) Architects and design professionals increasingly rely on cloud platforms, BIM software, and digital tools to manage sensitive data, creating cybersecurity and privacy risks. A single incident can trigger liability claims, regulatory obligations, reputational harm, and insurance challenges. Yet many firms underestimate how contracts, insurance, and internal practices intersect during a breach. This program offers legal and insurance perspectives on cyber risk in architecture, examining liability exposure, risky contract provisions, and mitigation strategies. A cyber insurance expert will explain policy responses, coverage gaps, coordination with professional liability, and best practices for aligning insurance with contractual risk and protecting firms from evolving cyber threats. Learning Objectives: Identify key cybersecurity and data privacy risks faced by architecture firms and explain how these risks can impact professional liability and project outcomes. Analyze common contractual provisions to determine which clauses may increase exposure to cyber incidents and propose strategies to mitigate these risks. Evaluate the scope and limitations of cyber insurance policies, including coordination with professional liability coverage, to determine how a policy would respond in a breach scenario. Develop actionable risk management strategies by integrating legal, contractual, and insurance considerations to protect sensitive client and project data.
