Umar Sheikh Named a Notable Diverse Leader in Law by Crain’s New York Business
Offit Kurman is pleased to congratulate Principal and Chair of the firm’s Real Estate Law and Transactions group, Umar Sheikh, on being named a Notable Diverse Leader in Law by Crain’s New York Business. Crain’s New York Business identified top law professionals from underrepresented groups who have made an impact in New York in the types of cases handled, clients won and/or pro bono work. Only 80 attorneys in the New York region received this honor.
In addition to having a comprehensive real estate practice that includes development, financing, leasing, management and more, Mr. Sheikh has been recognized for his niche practice that raises capital for clients in accordance with Sharia (Islamic) law. He is a frequent speaker at local mosques about the importance of estate planning and sits on the board of Muslims 4 Peace, a New Jersey non-profit entity, which bridges people from different religious and backgrounds through interfaith activities and dialogue.
