Offit Kurman Labor Counsel Neil A. Morris and Gabriel V. Celii Successfully Defend Bristol Township in Discharge Grievance Arbitration

Philadelphia, PA – In a decisive victory for Bristol Township, experienced labor counsel Neil A. Morris and Gabriel V. Celii of Offit Kurman recently secured a favorable ruling in a two-day discharge grievance arbitration. The case, heard before an American Arbitration Association arbitrator, involved an employee who had been on disability leave and was caught performing physical labor for others during his absence.

The employee, relying on his long tenure with the Township, argued that he was confused about the limitations of his disability leave. However, the arbitrator, in a detailed arbitration award, firmly rejected the grievance. The ruling, which is final, binding, and not subject to appeal, underscores the Township’s commitment to maintaining integrity and accountability in its workforce.

“We are pleased with the arbitrator’s thorough consideration of the facts and the legal principles at stake,” said Morris and Celii. “This decision reaffirms the importance of honest communication regarding disability leave and workplace conduct.”
