Offit Kurman Expands Construction Law Practice with the Addition of James Tarnofsky

Offit Kurman welcomes Principal James Tarnofsky to the firm’s Construction Law, Transactions and Disputes Practice Group in its Bergen County, New Jersey office. James is a seasoned construction law attorney with broad experience in corporate transactions, real estate, corporate law, business management, and surety law. His previous role as general counsel for a construction company has provided him with invaluable insights into the unique challenges construction businesses face.

James's practice is characterized by a comprehensive approach to client solutions. He handles a wide range of commercial issues, from drafting and negotiating contracts to managing complex disputes. His work includes bid protests, construction delays, extra work claims, and surety and fidelity bond claims. James also represents clients in construction defects, design disputes, and professional malpractice claims. His deep knowledge of construction law allows him to address construction trust fund claims, creditor rights in bankruptcy, and bad faith claims under both statutory and common law, ensuring thorough and effective solutions for his clients.

James is a member of the American Bar Association and the New Jersey Bar Association, where he actively contributes to the Construction Law, Employment Law, and Surety Law Subcommittees. Beyond his professional practice, James has served as a Middlesex County College instructor, teaching construction contracts and project management courses.
