Offit Kurman Attorney Ronald E. Karam Named "Lawyer of the Year" for Information Technology Law in Philadelphia, PA by The Best Lawyers in America®
Philadelphia, PA – (August 19, 2024) – Ronald "Ron" E. Karam, a prominent intellectual property attorney at the firm's Philadelphia office, has been named the 2025 "Lawyer of the Year" for Information Technology Law in Philadelphia by The Best Lawyers in America®. This prestigious accolade, awarded to only one lawyer in each practice area and community, highlights Ron's significant contributions to information technology law, establishing him as a leading figure both in his practice and within the broader legal landscape.
With over 40 years of experience, Ron's practice focuses on computer law, encompassing licensing and e-commerce transactional matters, as well as litigation involving patent and copyright infringement actions and other commercial disputes related to computer software, hardware, and e-commerce. His extensive experience includes successfully negotiating numerous patent licenses, software licenses, distribution agreements, and other contracts related to e-commerce, all of which have had a meaningful impact on the industry.
From 1997 to 2001, Ron served as a faculty member at the University of Pennsylvania Law School, where he taught computer law. Prior to his legal career, he was part of the technical staff at Bell Laboratories (now Lucent Technologies), contributing to the research and development of microcomputer-based communications products.
