Offit Kurman Attorney Matthew Karmel Receives Green Pro Bono’s Creative Collaborator Award
Offit Kurman is pleased to announce that Matthew Karmel, chair of the firm’s Environmental and Sustainability Law Practice, has received the Creative Collaborator Award by Green Pro Bono (GPB). This award celebrates Matthew’s outstanding dedication to advancing GPB’s mission of expanding access to pro bono legal services for climate-focused organizations.
“Sustainability and environmental advocacy are at the heart of my legal practice,” said Matthew. “Working with Green Pro Bono has reinforced my belief in the power of legal support to drive meaningful climate action, and I am grateful for the opportunity to contribute.”
A dedicated GPB volunteer for four years, Matthew has played a pivotal role in expanding the reach and impact of the organization. His advocacy and leadership contributed to a 145% increase in GPB’s attorney network over the past year, resulting in a 53% rise in pro bono client matches in 2024. Through initiatives such as the “Climate Pro Bono Bootcamp” and his commitment to fostering connections within the legal community, Matthew has strengthened the foundation of pro bono environmental legal support.
In addition to his work with GPB, Matthew is the founder of the planetary lawyer project, a newsletter aimed at engaging attorneys in climate-friendly legal work. His efforts continue to inspire the next generation of legal professionals committed to sustainability and environmental advocacy.
