Offit Kurman’s Martin Garbus Following Successful Run of The People v. Lenny Bruce

Offit Kurman congratulates Special Counsel Martin Garbus following the successful Off-Broadway run of the world premiere of The People v. Lenny Bruce, which concluded a two-month engagement at New York’s Theatre Row earlier this year. Developed in collaboration with award-winning playwright Susan Charlotte, resident director Antony Marsellis, and Cause Célèbre Productions, the production is part of All The Court’s A Stage, a trilogy inspired by cases from Garbus' distinguished legal career.  This trilogy has been presented throughout the country, from New York to Massachusetts to California, receiving standing ovations from people of all ages and backgrounds.

The acclaimed trilogy has received praise from audiences and prominent figures alike. Former ACLU President Susan Herman wrote:

“Susan Charlotte's powerful play Last Chance Café, directed by Antony Marsellis, took me back to the horrors and hopes of the 1960s. Her lawyer, Marty Garbus, who also serves as the narrator of the play, provides a playbook for resisting anti-democratic governmental actions even half a century later.”

Cause Célèbre Productions will continue All The Court’s A Stage this fall, with the program featuring three plays based on three cases on three different afternoons.  Each show will consist of a staged reading starring Broadway actors and will be followed by discussions with Marty Garbus, Mike Osgood (former deputy chief of the NYPD/Special Victims Unit), and other people of note. Audience members will be invited to a special reception with panelists, actors, the playwright, and director. Upcoming performances include Last Chance Café on September 23rd, The People v. Lenny Bruce on October 30th, and Unlucky Gal: The Story of Jane Doe on November 19th.  Shows begin at 2 pm and will take place at the Society for Ethical Culture, 2 West 64th Street.

All The Court's A Stage, which combines theatre and important issues, explores themes including free speech and censorship, civil rights, voting rights, and the justice system. Each play draws inspiration from real cases and reflects the legal and social questions that continue to shape public discourse today.

G2. Designing Secure Practices: Cybersecurity, Data Privacy, Contractual Provisions, and Insurance Risks for Architects (4:00 PM - 5:30 PM) Architects and design professionals increasingly rely on cloud platforms, BIM software, and digital tools to manage sensitive data, creating cybersecurity and privacy risks. A single incident can trigger liability claims, regulatory obligations, reputational harm, and insurance challenges. Yet many firms underestimate how contracts, insurance, and internal practices intersect during a breach. This program offers legal and insurance perspectives on cyber risk in architecture, examining liability exposure, risky contract provisions, and mitigation strategies. A cyber insurance expert will explain policy responses, coverage gaps, coordination with professional liability, and best practices for aligning insurance with contractual risk and protecting firms from evolving cyber threats. Learning Objectives: Identify key cybersecurity and data privacy risks faced by architecture firms and explain how these risks can impact professional liability and project outcomes. Analyze common contractual provisions to determine which clauses may increase exposure to cyber incidents and propose strategies to mitigate these risks. Evaluate the scope and limitations of cyber insurance policies, including coordination with professional liability coverage, to determine how a policy would respond in a breach scenario. Develop actionable risk management strategies by integrating legal, contractual, and insurance considerations to protect sensitive client and project data.
