Counsel

James Figliozzi is a dedicated commercial litigation attorney who provides strategic counsel and effective representation to businesses across a range of industries. With a keen eye for detail and a commitment to achieving favorable outcomes, James assists clients in navigating complex disputes in state and federal courts, mediations, arbitrations, and appeals.

James' multifaceted legal practice encompasses Title IX cases, college disciplinary proceedings, special education disputes, and defamation matters. He passionately represents both students and professors, tackling critical issues such as academic dishonesty, harassment, sexual misconduct, due process violations, First Amendment challenges, and various forms of discrimination.

In 2022, James served as second chair in a trial that secured a $5.3 million unanimous jury verdict for a former Clemson University student falsely accused of rape in a defamation and civil conspiracy case, one of the largest verdicts in Upstate South Carolina involving a private individual. He also successfully prepared a writ to the South Carolina Supreme Court, resulting in a landmark decision that ended the improper delegation of discovery oversight to special referees in civil cases.

After law school, James served as a law clerk for William P. Greene, Jr., Chief Judge of the United States Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims in Washington, D.C.
