Offit Kurman Promotes Four Associate Attorneys to Principals

Baltimore, MD | April 19, 2018 Offit Kurman is pleased to announce the promotion of four attorneys in Maryland and Virginia. Attorneys  James Gaither, Brian Dorwin, and Joe Mathis have been elevated from Associate to Principal.

Each year, Offit Kurman’s Management Committee reviews the firm’s Associate-level lawyers to identify and promote individuals who have achieved extraordinary results within their practice groups. Associates who earn the title of Principal demonstrate consistent leadership ability, diligence, and a high quality of service, as well as an unwavering dedication to working with the standards of excellence expected of the firm’s top attorneys.

"For most attorneys who enter the private practice of law, there are a few seminal moments. Certainly, achieving Principal status is one of them. These attorneys share certain common traits - they are doing "1st chair" work, are responsive to their clients and fellow attorneys and they have embraced the origination ethos at Offit Kurman", said Tim Lynch Managing Principal of the firm

More information about each new Principal attorney can be found below.

James Gaither

James N. Gaither is a member of Offit Kurman’s Landlord Representation group focusing primarily on Maryland properties. Prior to joining Offit Kurman, Mr. Gaither was an Assistant Bar Counsel with the Attorney Grievance Commission. In that capacity, James prosecuted cases against Maryland attorneys and other individuals not licensed to practice law in the state. As a result, he has significant trial experience in Circuit Courts throughout Maryland and has argued numerous cases before the Maryland Court of Appeals.

Brian Dorwin

Brian Dorwin practices in civil and administrative litigation, and is focused primarily on real estate law, including residential and commercial landlord representation law, Fair Housing Act compliance, and regulatory compliance. Additionally, Mr. Dorwin has experience in complex construction litigation, discrimination defense, subsidized housing lease-ups and compliance, and alternative dispute resolution. Mr. Dorwin also regularly assists owners of commercial and residential properties in business licensing and other matters of District of Columbia code compliance.

Joseph Mathis

Joseph Mathis primarily focuses his practice in counseling and assisting individuals with elder care planning, estate planning, and estate administration. He also represents personal representatives and trustees in connection with the administration of estates and trusts. He has been named to the “Rising Stars” list in Super Lawyers magazine since 2015.
