Offit Kurman Launches New Business Litigation Practice Group To Keep Pace with Growth

Maple Lawn, MD | November 18, 2014 Offit Kurman continues its trend of growth forward with the launch of a new Business Litigation practice group. Spurred by an influx of new attorneys as well as increasing demand for highly particularized corporate litigation counsel, the firm has created a team of litigators to more thoroughly meet the needs of business owners, executives, and entrepreneurs in the Mid-Atlantic region.

Offit Kurman’s Business Litigation group will concentrate on litigation matters stemming from internal corporate disputes, partnership disagreements, and other conflicts that involve nuanced corporate and accounting issues. The Commercial Litigation group will handle external litigation matters including intellectual property cases, product liability matters as well as a host of matters that our corporate litigation clients regularly contend with. The Construction & Commercial Claims Litigation group will continue to provide industry-specific legal representation with an emphasis on alternative dispute resolution. “I am pleased to witness the expansion of our litigation practice,” said Timothy Lynch, Managing Principal of Legal Affairs. “These groups are set up to draw on our litigators’ unique skill sets and areas of knowledge, which means we can now deliver a more comprehensive set of legal services to our clients.” At Offit Kurman, adept litigators are defined by their ability to bring any dispute, in or out of court, to a quick and effective resolution that fulfills client interests. The firm’s trial attorneys have earned recognition and acclaim for pioneering legal victories in various state and federal courts. And Offit Kurman’s three litigation practice group leaders—John Raftery (Business Litigation), Don Foster (Commercial Litigation), and John Scaldara (Construction & Commercial Claims)—have achieved distinctions such as Martindale Hubbell’s highest “AV” rating and recognition as Super Lawyers. Effective January 1st, 2015,  Edward Tolchin will inherit the Government Contracts practice group from the current leader.  The Firm also appreciates and recognizes the efforts that both Howard and Don have made to develop their respective practice groups to where they are today.  I know that Ed and Laura are looking forward to working closely with Don and Howard for years to come.”  Howard Kurman is one of the founders of the firm and he sits on the Firm’s executive committee and Board of Directors. “There has never been a more dynamic time for Offit Kurman,” Lynch added. “When you secure top practitioners and allow them to thrive in a collaborative environment that takes full advantage of their individual strengths, the results speak for themselves.” [metaslider id=8621]
