Offit Kurman Joins Geneva Group International

Global multidisciplinary alliance membership helps to enhance Baltimore firm’s international presence and capabilities

BALTIMORE, Oct. 9, 2013 – Offit Kurman Attorneys at Law is pleased to announce that it is now a member of the invitation-only Geneva Group International (GGI), the largest global multidisciplinary alliance of independent law, accounting, audit and consulting firms. With its membership in GGI, Offit Kurman has significantly enhanced its international presence and global capabilities by gaining access to GGI’s local professional service experts, who span more than 395 member firms and 598 offices across more than 100 countries. These specialists have in-depth knowledge of the legal, fiscal and economic practices specific to their own business environments. “Offit Kurman is honoured to be invited and confirmed as the only Maryland based law firm member of the Geneva Group International,” said Theodore Offit, Managing Principal and CEO of Offit Kurman. “In-depth understanding of the local legal and business issues in different countries is imperative for companies to be successful in their cross-border activities. GGI participation helps us ensure that our clients have the utmost competitive advantage through access to reliable experts on the ground in diverse regions of the world. This level of local expertise can be difficult to find through other avenues.” Founded in 1995 and headquartered in Zurich, Switzerland, GGI is ranked as the world’s sixth largest professional alliance overall, according to Accountancy Magazine, the official journal of the Institute of Chartered Accountants. GGI member firms are regarded as leaders in their professions within their respective regions. The organization employs a stringent evaluation process to ensure that only top firms that provide exceptional client services and adhere to high quality standards are admitted to membership. “As GGI expands its presence within North America, it was clear we needed to find a strong organization that could serve as a lynchpin in the mid-Atlantic region and beyond: Offit Kurman helps us fulfil that strategy,” said Claudio G. Cocca, Founder and Chairman of the GGI’s Board of Directors.  “Offit Kurman has served clients regionally – and indeed across the United States – for over 25 years.  The reputation of the firm’s attorneys in commercial legal services is second to none, and the ability of its corporate attorneys to provide business and legal counsel is prized by its clients.  We are very glad to welcome Offit Kurman to the GGI family.” Partnership with GGI complements the many Offit Kurman attorneys who have extensive knowledge and experience gained from working abroad and serving as advisors to globalizing companies. Timothy C. Lynch, President of Offit Kurman, said that, in addition to expanded foreign-market legal knowledge, GGI membership offers current and prospective Offit Kurman clients an expanded international network and enhanced resources from trusted partners with interdisciplinary capabilities.  “We are also privileged to be able to offer our firm’s services to foreign-based clients of other GGI member firms to help them achieve their business goals in the United States,” Mr. Lynch said. “We look forward to working closely with the entire GGI community of well-established and experienced professional services firms.” Mr. Offit added that membership in GGI is another example of how Offit Kurman is committed to seeking better approaches to serve its clients while also maintaining high standards.  “GGI helps us be even more international in our service offerings while remaining independent and providing the same structure and level of high-quality services on which our firm has built its reputation,” Mr. Offit said.
