Offit Kurman attorney John Raftery to speak at the upcoming PMA general membership meeting in Northern Virginia
From television shows to the daily headlines, hoarding has become a household word. If you manage an apartment community, you have walked into a home seriously affected by hoarding. What do you do? What legal rights do you have? How big of a problem is it? To help PMA members identify and effectively address hoarding problems at their communities, PMA is bringing Matt Paxton to keynote at the September 18 General Membership Meeting at the Tysons Corner Marriott. Matt is the founder of Clutter Cleaner, a company that is dedicated to helping families deal with relatives who hoard. At the September 18th meeting, Matt will explain:
- Why people hoard
- How to effectively communicate with hoarders
- How to identify and avoid problems hoarders can create
- The cleanup processes used in hoarding situations
- How to keep hoarding residents happy
In addition to Matt’s presentation, PMA General Counsel John Raftery will discuss the legal/fair housing considerations that property managers must address when dealing with residents who hoard.
