php-logo-no-hotel-logosFrederick, MD | September 23, 2014 – The Downtown Frederick Hotel Advisory Committee has recommended to the Mayor and Board of Aldermen of Frederick City its selection of Offit Kurman client Plamondon Hospitality Partners (PHP) to develop a full-service Marriott hotel and conference center in the heart of historic downtown. Valued at over $60 million, the project is on track to generate over a hundred jobs as well as millions in tax revenue and travel and tourism activity. The hotel and conference center is planned to occupy the site of the former Frederick News-Post building on E. Patrick Street. Incorporating the landmark Frederick Railroad Building, the project aims to offer retail opportunities and amenities such as dining and conference space along Carroll Street, while preserving an architectural legacy steeped in Colonial America and the Civil War. Local zoning and real estate attorney David Severn serves on the PHP development and consulting team as land development counsel. His firm, Severn & Kresslein, PA, joined Offit Kurman in August of this year. Once completed, the site will feature 207 rooms and suites, over 20,000 square feet of meeting space, a 700-person ballroom, 304 parking spaces, two restaurants, two lounges/bars, a gift shop, a fitness center, an indoor pool, and a business center. All new and existing buildings will be constructed or adapted to achieve LEED Certification® for sustainable design. “I am very happy for my client the Plamondon Companies and proud to be part of its dynamic development and consulting team,” said Mr. Severn. “This critical recommendation and endorsement from the Committee is the first major step toward forging a successful public-private partnership with the City that will make the downtown hotel and conference center a reality and a success.” If you have any questions regarding this press release please contact David Severn at: David A.
