Matrix Medical Network Buys Biocerna LLC

For Immediate Release
Maple Lawn, MD | October 21, 2020

Offit Kurman attorneys Michael N. Mercurio, Brent Salmons, and Allison Rosenzweig recently closed a substantial transaction between Biocerna LLC and Matrix Medical Network, who purchased Biocerna, in part, because of its capacity to handle COVID-19 testing and provide customers with agile, in-house capabilities.

“M&A is about timing and the timing was a perfect fit between the Covid capabilities of Biocerna and the capacity needs of Matrix Medical,” said Michael N. Mercurio.

Biocerna is a CLIA-certified and CAP-accredited laboratory dedicated to delivering clinical diagnostics tests to improve patients’ safety and quality of care. It develops innovative assays that allows it to have prompt turn-around times and competitive pricing. While its main focus is clinical diagnostics, it also works with pharmaceutical companies to support their research and development efforts as well as clinical testing support.

Matrix Medical Network is a leader in supporting at-risk populations. Matrix has worked with millions of individuals across the United States to evaluate and manage their health risks through a network of more than 3,000 clinicians and a fleet of mobile health clinics in an effort to assess health and safety, identify and close care gaps, and offer life-changing services. Because of this, Matrix was uniquely positioned to rapidly respond to the spread of COVID-19. Today, Matrix offers customizable solutions including on-site clinics, viral testing, contact tracing, environmental assessments, clinical consultations, vaccine administration, clinical trial support, and access to an expert clinical advisory panel.
