Marjorie Just Profiled in Coalition of Women’s Initiatives in Law Newsletter in Advance of June DC Chapter Event
For Immediate Release
The Coalition of Women’s Initiatives in Law is a nonprofit membership association that brings together law firms, government, and companies of all sizes to educate, support, and promote women attorneys and their careers. Ms. Just currently serves as President of the Coalition’s Washington, DC Chapter, which was launched earlier this year. Her “member spotlight” in the newsletter appears alongside profiles featuring members of the Coalition’s New York and Chicago Chapters.
Ms. Just spoke to the Coalition about her practice at Offit Kurman and her career as a Family Law attorney, answering questions such as “What is the best advice you ever received?” and “What is your fondest career memory or highlight?”
“I would say my fondest memories have been those moments with clients when I have helped them over the finish line of a tough road, whether by litigation or reaching a settlement,” she said. “It’s incredibly rewarding to help someone obtain or maintain custody of their children. Or to help someone conclude a difficult divorce, where they can now start a new chapter of their life. There have been a lot of tears and hugs.”
To her success as an attorney, she attributed “[a] continuing fascination with what makes family relationships work or not work,” along with “persistence and attention to detail.”
In response to the question “What advice you would give to a woman lawyer just starting out?,” Ms. Just remarked that “[l]earning what you don’t want is as important as learning what you do want.”
“Trial and error, making mistakes—they are uncomfortable experiences but ones we learn so much from,” she said. “That applies to relationships as well as career choices!”

The DC Chapter of the Coalition’s next event is “Work-Life Balance & Stress Management for Attorneys,” an interactive workshop led by Jennie Fagen, Executive Coach & Workplace Wellness Innovator. The program “will delve into the true meaning of work-life balance as it applies to attorneys and the unique stresses their jobs entail, including techniques to reduce stress and optimize rest.” Attendees will explore topics such as whether work-life balance means something different to attorneys who are women and/or parents, as well as how attorneys can disconnect from the office in today’s “always on” work culture.
The program is scheduled to take place 12:30-1:30pm on July 23, preceded by a networking session and lunch from 12–12:30. To learn more and register, click here.
