Kristen M. Kanaskie Joins Offit Kurman in Virginia

Ms. Kanaskie has significant experience navigating complex civil disputes, representing businesses and professionals in breach of contract, tortious interference, business conspiracy, fraud, trade secret, breach of fiduciary duty, negligence, and defamation actions in Virginia state and federal courts. A keen problem solver with a background in public relations, Ms. Kanaskie naturally captures the intricacies and unique considerations facing each client, and she delivers productive, strategic, and pragmatic solutions so they may be successful in litigation and beyond.
Ms. Kanaskie began her legal career as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Jonathan C. Thacher in the Circuit Court for Fairfax County, Virginia. Prior to joining Offit Kurman, Ms. Kanaskie was an attorney at a civil and criminal practice law firm in Arlington, Virginia, where she gained substantial first-hand litigation and trial experience in Virginia circuit courts, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia, and the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia. Additionally, Ms. Kanaskie also argued on behalf of the defendants/appellees in a million dollar breach of contract and breach of fiduciary duty action before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.
Ms. Kanaskie is an alumna of George Mason University School of Law (now “Antonin Scalia Law School”) in Arlington, Virginia, where she was an accomplished Trial Advocacy and Moot Court competitor, President of the Trial Advocacy Association, Student Bar Association Executive Board Member, and student mentor. Upon graduation, Ms. Kanaskie was awarded the Trial Advocacy Award for excelling in demonstrating the talents and attributes of a trial advocate by the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association. Prior to law school, Ms. Kanaskie served as the marketing and public relations director for a national trade association. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Public Relations with a minor in Business from the Pennsylvania State University, graduating with highest distinction. Additionally, Ms. Kanaskie is a past Finnegan Fellow, having been awarded the prestigious James A. Finnegan Foundation Fellowship, and is a member of the Phi Kappa Phi and Golden Key honor societies.
