Edward DeLisle Mentors Small Businesses at 2018 American Express Government Contracting Summit

For Immediate Release

September 20, 2018 | Philadelphia, PA Offit Kurman government contracting and construction law attorney Edward DeLisle served as a mentor at the 2018 American Express OPEN for Government Contracting: Summit for Success. The event was the latest in a recent series of speaking engagements for Mr. DeLisle, who also presented at the National 8(a) Association’s 2018 Summer Regional Conference in Anchorage, Alaska a week prior.

Held in June in Washington, DC, the American Express Summit for Success provided hundreds of small businesses with the opportunity to learn about government contracting, engage with potential business partners, and receive mentoring from industry experts. The free one-day event was sponsored by American Express through its OPEN Forum, and featured presentations from executive leaders and government contracting professionals at organizations such as WeWork and Marriott. Attendees had the option to participate in one-on-one networking meetings and interactive breakout learning sessions.

Due to his affiliation with the National 8(a) Association, Mr. DeLisle was selected to be one of several industry expert advisers available for business owners during breakout sessions. The topic of his workshops was the Small Business Administration’s (SBA) All Small Mentor-Protégé program, which seeks to connect small businesses with experienced government contractors. Mr. DeLisle offered guidance about the program’s benefits, which kinds of small businesses qualify, the application process, and what participating organizations can expect.

In his practice at Offit Kurman, Mr. DeLisle concentrates on federal contracting, small business procurement, construction law and construction litigation. He has drafted and negotiated teaming agreements, joint venture agreements, and construction contracts and subcontracts. He also actively monitors the progress of his clients’ contracts as outside general counsel in order to safeguard those rights and remedies to which they are entitled. In addition to litigating, arbitrating, and mediating complex construction and procurement cases in various jurisdictions and forums throughout the region, Mr. DeLisle assists companies—both foreign and domestic—in international disputes involving the US government. He is currently representing clients on matters involving Department of Defense work in Afghanistan and has done similar work for clients in Israel and Eastern Europe.
