Beginning March 17th through March 27th:

  1. While each office will remain open subject to required closures, they will be closed to non-Offit Kurman employees as of the close of business today through March 27, 2019. We will reevaluate this policy after March 27, 2019. To be clear and to avoid any misunderstanding, visitors will not be permitted to enter Offit Kurman’s premises. We need to ensure that we have a safe and healthy working environment for our employees. If you have client meetings, depositions, mediations, or need to meet with those not employed by Offit Kurman, you need to find alternative locations for these meetings or postpone these meetings.  Most of our buildings have meetings spaces that are available for use.
  2. Our lawyers should work from home in isolation through March 27, 2020. Those in Offit Kurman management who are classified as exempt salaried employees should also work from home in isolation.  Please bring your laptop home with you. Those not able to work from home can work in the office (assuming it is not subject to required closure), adhering to all best recommended practices regarding isolation within the office.  To be clear, we would like all of our lawyers and salaried employees to work remotely through March 27, 2020 and to only work in the office when working at home is not feasible.
  3. All non-exempt support staff will be given paid time off through March 27.  Stay home and stay safe and for those of you with school-aged children – take this time to plan for how to resume work if your children are not back in school when Offit Kurman resumes normal operations.  Some members of our support staff team will be classified as essential personnel by our firm’s senior management (the COO, the CAO, the Office of Managing Principal or the Regional Directors).  Those classified as essential personnel will be asked to work as needed through March 27. If such an employee works during this period, they will be provided with extra PTO for the time worked. When possible, it is our preference that work will be conducted remotely at home.
  4. Our essential back office operations are already set up to operate in a remote environment.  New File, IT, accounting and finance will all continue to operate through March 27.  Please note that in office IT support may be limited in some offices. Mail will be checked and forwarded daily, though there could be delay with mail coming out of a location with an office closure.  So, we will be operational and open for business during this time.  For those of you who will be working from home or off work for the next few weeks, please take home any files or supplies that you may need during this time. Please do not remove any computer equipment from the office.
