Regional Director (Charlotte)

Currently seeking a Regional Director to join our Charlotte office.  The Regional Director (RD) shall report to the firm’s Chief Operating Officer and will be responsible for the effective and efficient administrative management within the Region.  The RD will work with the Chief Operating Officer (COO) and Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) on administrative support functions. The RD will work with the Office of Managing Principal (OMP) on lawyer performance issues and lawyer relationship management issues including hiring, firing, and behavioral management issues.


Seeking someone with experience working with professional staff.  Prior law firm experience is not required.


Major Responsibilities:

  • Administration
    • Supervising all legal administrative assistants, clerks, and receptionists employed in the Region including:
      • Conducting performance reviews of staff
      • Hiring and firing of administrative personnel within budgetary constraints
    • Working with the firm’s Chief Operating Officer and Chief Administrative Officer on administrative support functions and administrative management issues.
  • Attorney Performance
    • Managing attorney and paralegal compliance with the firm’s practices and procedures.
    • Working with the OMP to achieve full capacity utilization of all lawyers and paralegals in the Region;
    • Working with the OMP on lawyer and paralegal performance issues and administrative compliance issues.
    • Preparing performance reports and participating in performance reviews for Attorney and Paralegal staff within the region.
    • Meeting with newly hired attorneys to present performance information and discuss challenges the attorney may have meeting their origination and production targets.
  • Financial Performance
    • Meeting annual budgeted objectives for productivity and capacity utilization within the Region.
    • Working as a member of the firm’s Credit and Collection Committee, ensure the attorneys focus on AR aging and work with them to collect aged payments from clients.
    • Working with the firm’s Billing Committee to review attorney requests for WIP write-downs and invoice discounts.
  • Reporting
    • Operating initiatives and activities to the firm’s Chief Operating Officer.
  • Marketing
    • Promoting the Offit Kurman brand throughout the region.
    • Managing the region/office budget.



  • College degree
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in a senior management role
  • Excellent judgment and creative problem-solving skills including negotiation and conflict resolution skills
  • Strong mentoring, coaching experience to a team with diverse levels of expertise
  • Superior management skills; ability to influence and engage direct and indirect reports and peers
  • Self-reliant, good problem solver, results oriented
  • A team leader who can positively and productively impact both strategic and tactical finance and administration initiatives.
  • Exceptional written, oral, interpersonal, and presentation skills and the ability to effectively interface with senior management, the Firm’s board of directors, and staff
  • Ability to operate as an effective tactical as well as strategic thinker




  • 40+ hours per week
  • Additional hours for travel and to successfully accomplish the goals of the job. Travel will primarily be day trips from home region to other Offit Kurman offices
