This week on the Remote Rundown, we take a break from COVID-19 updates and talk about new legislation that will go into effect later this year. Russell Berger, Sarah Sawyer, and Jim Ries discuss the Bostock Supreme Court Ruling – which addresses and clarifies gender identity and orientation protections under Title VII; the Maryland Crown Act – which specifically prohibits the discrimination of certain hairstyles, the Maryland Mini-WARN Act – which states that, if there will be a mass layoff, there must be advanced notice given; and the salary history ban and salary inquiry protection – which requires employers to provide the salary range for the position in question upon the applicant’s request. It also prevents employers from seeking applicant wage history.
