On March 18, 2020 President Trump signed into law the Families First Coronavirus Response Act. This law, among other efforts to mitigate the impact of COVID-19, provides for an expansion of the Family Medical Leave Act as well as the creation of Emergency Paid Sick Leave. Employers with fewer than 500 employees will need to adopt policies and practices compliant with the many nuances of the new law, as illustrated below.
