If you are a landlord or tenant of a house or business that contains lead base paint, you need to consult a mass tort litigator to protect your interest. Maryland and federal laws are designed to reduce childhood and adult lead poisoning while maintaining affordable rental housing. These laws apply primarily to renters and property owners in pre-1978 residential properties. Under federal law all records of the owner or landlord must be produced to the affected parties. The current EPA pamphlet must be provided. Sales and leasing contracts must include disclosure and acknowledgment language. Agents for the owner or landlord must insure compliance. In short lead paint cases are just another form of mass torts which require the knowledge and experience of a litigator who can inform an affected party of best practices once a claim is known
