Columbia Patuxent Rotary Club: Motel Boxes
Motel Boxes were constructed, packed, and delivered to Grassroots by the Club on Friday. Boxes were filled with water, milk, crackers, pasta, cereal, etc., to enable a recipient to get through several days in a pinch. Grassroots has occasion to house individuals in motels from time to time, for reasons such as domestic violence, for example. Delivery of a motel box enables the recipient to get through a few days until more permanent and sustaining arrangements can be made.
Our Club raises funds to enable us to contribute to Grassroots and other non- profits in our community. Just last year, we contributed to Camp Attaway, Head Start, Gilchrist Hospice, Hope Works, Living in Recovery, and Neighbor Ride, to name just a few.
Friday was our last meeting at the Linden Hall location, where we have spent the last year. Starting on March 2, we will meet each Friday morning, from 7:30 – 8:30, at the Wilde Lake Interfaith Center. If you would like to be part of something bigger than yourself, which does amazing things for the community, come check us out. I assure you that you will be warmly welcomed.
