It has been my pleasure to co-chair the Business Day of Leadership Howard County with Chuck Bubeck. An amazing committee put together a packed day of learning and the experience of business from the State level, and the nuances of it in Howard County.
A day like this cannot happen without the talent and time of the many volunteers who spent months preparing for the day.
My purpose in this message is to call out those people who contributed so generously to the day. First, the committee: Chuck Bubeck (Ease Technologies), Larry Twele (Howard County Economic Development), Tom Burtzlaff (CMIT Solutions), Marjorie Valin (Frank Strategic Marketing), Greg Dorsey (Dorsey Law), Cyndi Gula (Gula Tech Adventures), Wendy Baird (Insight 180), Mary Lasky (APL), and Don Barrick (the BAF Group).
Our speakers were: Bob Muir (Howard Community College), Kenneth McCreedy (Department of Commerce), Mark Thompson (HCEDA), Larry Twele (HCEDA), Greg Fitchitt (Howard Hughes Corporation), Jeff Agnor (Davis, Agnor, Rapaport, & Skalny), Leonardo McClarty (Howard Chamber), Ron Gula (Gula Tech Adventures), Julie Lenzer (UM Ventures), Tracy Turner (HCEDA/HTC), Cheryl Brown (Davis, Agnor, Rapaport, & Skalny), Brenda McChriston (Spectrum HR Solutions), Kathy Zimmerman (HCEDA), and Anthony Cordo (Tourism).
In addition to speakers, class members had the opportunity to visit local businesses to learn what it’s like to conduct business in Howard County. The businesses who opened their doors to us were: FLIR Systems, Andersen Becker, Clarks Elioak Farm, Jailbreak Brewing Company, Coastal Sunbelt Produce, HMC, Incorporated, and Steer Technology.
There are many unsung individuals in our community. I thought it appropriate to put them front and center, and to publicly thank them for giving so generously.
Thank you to all of the volunteers who gave so much to make this a great day!!
