Jingle Bells is one of the most popular and well-known songs of the holiday season. The song was written by James Lord Pierpont on September 16, 1857 and was originally copyrighted under the title One Horse Open Sleigh. The title of the song was changed to Jingle Bells when the song was republished in 1859. The lyrics of the song tell of the sleigh rides held on Salem Street in Georgia during the early 1800s.
