Offit Kurman is pleased to announce the appointment of three additional board members. Attorneys Herbert R. Fineburg, Michael N. Mercurio, and Rajiv K. Goel have been elected to the firm’s board of directors. The expanded board intends to support the firm’s ongoing regional growth initiatives, and the news coincides with upcoming changes to Offit Kurman’s management and operating structure. Further information about each new board appointee may be found below.
A co-managing principal of the Offit Kurman’s Philadelphia office, Herbert Fineburg joined the firm in 2013 along with 11 other attorneys, paralegals, and staff who transitioned from the law practice he founded 20 years prior. Recognized as one of Philadelphia’s most respected business lawyers, Mr. Fineburg provides clients with strategic and cost-saving benefits in connection with commercial transactions and taxation, and matters related to wills, trusts, and estates. He is also a distinguished writer and editor whose articles have appeared in the Pennsylvania CPA Journal and the Journal of S Corporation Taxation. In 2015, Mr. Fineburg was a finalist for the 14th Annual M&A Advisor Award.
Michael Mercurio is the chair of Offit Kurman’s Business Law and Transactions Practice Group. In his capacity as an attorney, strategic advisor, and outside general counsel, he guides clients on matters related to corporate and business law, commercial transactions, government contracting and real estate. His core specialties include mergers and acquisitions and ownership planning. Mr. Mercurio has repeatedly been named to SmartCEO’s Best Lawyers list. He is also the founder of the Greater Baltimore 100+ Family Business Roundtable and CONNECTIONS, a C-Level exclusive networking forum.
Rajiv Goel is an elder law and estate management attorney who skillfully counsels seniors, persons with disabilities, and individuals seeking advice on how best to conserve, protect, and distribute estate assets before and after death. From 2009–2012, Super Lawyers named Mr. Goel a Maryland Rising Star in the category of Elder Law. In addition to fulfilling their new duties as board members, Mr. Fineburg, Mr. Mercurio, and Mr. Goel will continue their responsibilities as attorneys in their respective practice areas. Now nine members strong, the individuals on Offit Kurman’s board of directors each represent a component of the firm’s diverse breadth of legal categories and locations throughout the mid-Atlantic region. With their involvement, the firm’s leadership aims to bolster growth in markets ranging from Virginia to Northern Pennsylvania and New York City. “When we started considering the addition of new directors for the board, Herb, Mike, and Raj were obvious candidates,” said Offit Kurman co-founder Ted Offit. “Each has contributed immensely to our firm, and I am thrilled to recognize them for the leadership they’ve already demonstrated. With their high-level participation, Offit Kurman is poised for even greater success in the years to come.”
