Through its MapMyFitness app, Under Armour offers technology that allows users to map, record, display and share their workout data. In 2014, Adidas filed a lawsuit claiming Under Armour’s use of this technology infringes upon ten wearable tech-related patents held by Adidas. Under Armour recently argued to the court that some of these patents should be invalidated because Adidas is attempting to obtain exclusivity regarding abstract ideas instead of specific inventions.
