Why Join Offit Kurman? Look at the News

OK1Why have attorneys throughout Maryland, Virginia, Delaware, Pennsylvania, New York, and New Jersey chosen to join Offit Kurman? The answers are as diverse as the members of our team, though there are a few common reasons:

  1. The independence and flexibility to grow their practices at their own pace
  2. Support from over 100 colleagues across a wide field of legal areas
  3. Access to the same objective bonuses and opportunities, regardless of status or experience

While our commitment to attorneys’ growth has set our firm apart since its founding, Offit Kurman and its people continue to earn regional, national, and international recognition for our impact in our communities and the legal profession. Below is just a sampling of recent honors, awards, and news stories that show what’s possible with a career at Offit Kurman Attorneys At Law.

Recognition Far and Wide

In 2015, the Baltimore Business Journal ranked Offit Kurman number 50 out of 100 on the newspaper’s list of the top private companies in Baltimore. Offit Kurman is also one of Baltimore’s Most Social Companies, as well as one of the area’s largest law firms—both recognized by the BBJ as well. From a national standpoint, Offit Kurman was the only Maryland law firm named the Inc. 5000 list of America’s fastest growing companies in 2015. Additionally, Best Lawyers In America included thirteen of the firm’s lawyers in its 2016 directory.

Proven Leadership in Technology and Innovation

Offit Kurman has made a global name for itself with two recent achievements in the areas of technology and innovative practices. First, three of the firm’s training programs won LTC4 Certification, including the first Cybersecurity certification awarded globally. LTC4 (the Legal Technology Core Competencies Certification Coalition) is an international nonprofit coalition of over 80 law firms, corporate law departments, and law schools. Following the LTC4 accomplishment, the firm was pleased to announce that Jim Ries, Offit Kurman Practice Group Manager, was elected Global Vice Chairperson for Geneva Group International’s Business Development & Marketing (BDM) Practice Group. Geneva Group International (GGI) is a global alliance of independent, professional services firms. Mr. Ries aims to share business development and marketing best practices from his experience at Offit Kurman with GGI peers from around the world.

Marketing and Publicity Opportunities for Attorneys

Offit Kurman’s firm-wide success stories come second to our pride held for individual attorneys’ achievements. Over the course of 2015, numerous Offit Kurman lawyers have made news in their fields:

  • Offit Kurman co-founder Theodore “Ted” Offit was a featured panelist at a business seminar held in the Baltimore Ravens Locker room at M&T Bank Stadium
  • Northern Virginia Magazine named estate planning attorneys Alison Noll and Lauren Jenkins to its 2015 “Top Financial Professionals” list.
  • Business litigator Douglas R. Kay was elected to serve as President on the 2015-2016 Fairfax Bar Association Board of Directors.
  • The Maryland State Bar Association named Bryan Pelino, banking and finance attorney, Chair of the Committee on Uniform Commercial Code for the Business Law Section.
  • Mortgage Compliance Magazine named financial institutions regulatory attorney Daniella Casseres one of the top “Emerging Women Compliance Lawyers.”

Dynamic Business and Startup Partnerships

Through sponsorships, partnerships, advisory relationships, and direct legal assistance, Offit Kurman plays a major part in supporting the various businesses and organizations active in the regions we serve. In September, Startup Maryland visited Frederick, MD, where the program’s Pitch Across Maryland participants met with our attorneys and staff. We hosted the traveling Startup Maryland team out of our office along Carroll Creek in Downtown Frederick. Sponsored by Offit Kurman, citybizlist’s CEO interviews are candid, one-on-one conversations with decision-makers at some of the region’s leading corporations, startups, nonprofit organizations, and public institutions. Topics cover the breadth of a CEO’s career, from their early motivations and role models to their current challenges, opportunities, and ambitions looking ahead.

Community Involvement and Giving Back

Our firm takes seriously its responsibility to make our communities a better place for all. To that end, we are proud to sponsor philanthropic events such as the Warriors Ethos Casino Night event last summer and the 10th Anniversary of the Kennedy Krieger Institute’s Project HEAL in September. Offit Kurman is also running two ongoing cause campaigns through Cake Cause Marketing—please join us in giving back to the Chimes Family of Services and the Georgetown Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center.
