For Immediate Release
Baltimore, MD | October 13, 2015 Jim Ries, Offit Kurman Practice Group Manager, has been elected Global Vice Chairperson for Geneva Group International’s Business Development & Marketing (BDM) Practice Group. The group announced the appointment following the results of an organization-wide vote last month. Geneva Group International (GGI) is a global alliance of independent, professional services firms. Its nearly 500 members include law, accounting, management consulting, and trust companies in 118 countries. GGI Practice Groups allow professionals of various interests and disciplines around the world to discuss ideas, foster connections, and generate business opportunities, all with the intent of improving their clients’ bottom lines. Elections for Global Chairpersons and Vice Chairpersons occur every three years, and only GGI members who have attended at least one Practice Group meeting are eligible to be nominated. Mr. Ries has been an active GGI participant since Offit Kurman joined the organization in 2013. He was motivated to enter the election out of a desire to share business development and marketing best practices from around the world with the GGI community. “I think we make each other better,” he said of the exchange between GGI and Offit Kurman. “GGI is the number one global affiliation of service professionals in the world. We have acquired significant business knowledge from our involvement with them, and I know that Offit Kurman has a great deal to offer GGI’s members. I’m honored to be the conduit between what we do in our region and what our peers are doing around the world.” As Practice Group Manager with Offit Kurman, Mr. Ries supports the attorneys involved in business law and transactions, banking, government contracting, labor and employment, and other mid-market business services. His responsibilities involve managing staff compliance with the firm’s policies, developing individual and practice group business plans, and overseeing the use of marketing resources. These experiences serve as the basis for his first presentation as Global Vice Chairperson at the GGI World Conference on October 23rd, where Mr. Ries will demonstrate to attendees a multi-step marketing initiative that enables a firm to convert its prospects into clients. “Jim is a proven leader at our firm, and I’m pleased he now has a major stage on which to demonstrate his expertise,” said Offit Kurman co-founder and managing principal Ted Offit. “He has a rare set of traits, the kind we value. He understands the ‘business of business.’ I’m certain his position as GGI Global Vice Chairperson will drive the firm-wide innovation our clients count on us to deliver. Congratulations, Jim!” To learn more about Geneva Group International, visit ggi.com. To get in touch with Jim, please visit Offit Kurman’s Management page.
