Federal law enforcement authorities are now investigating whether the St. Louis Cardinals stole highly valuable and competitive trade secrets by hacking the main database of the Houston Astros. The misappropriated database was developed by the Astros’ general manager, who was previously a member of the Cardinals’ front office. If the allegations are verified, members of the Cardinals organization could face jail time and/or lifetime bans from baseball.
