CEO Interview with Robert “B.J.” Goetz, Jr. President & CEO, Middletown Valley Bank

By Bryan J. Pelino, Esq.
Some things never change. And that’s just fine with B.J. Goetz, President and CEO of Middletown Valley Bank – that is, if you’re talking about the Bank’s core values and 100-plus years as the cornerstone of local community banking in Western Maryland. Yet, just about everything else has been fair game for sweeping change under B.J.’s two-year watch. He has led the Bank through rebranding and repositioning, rarely seen outside of a sale or name change. The Bank’s focus has been totally reorganized to commercial and small business with commensurate build-out of infrastructure and technology. MVB is one of the largest locally owned community banks in the State of Maryland, with $175 million in assets and five branch locations. The Bank offers commercial and retail banking services to businesses and consumers in Frederick and Washington Counties. A Western Maryland native and Frostburg State University alum, B.J. sees the needs of his constituents and vision for MVB –“Absolutely Exceptional Experience” – through a uniquely local lens.   Click here to read the full interview.
