We are pleased to announce that Offit Kurman labor and employment attorney and firm co-founder Howard Kurman was recently named a member at large of the International Dyslexia Association’s (IDA) Board of Directors. Headquartered in Towson, Maryland, just north of Baltimore, the IDA is a non-profit, scientific, and educational organization dedicated to the study and treatment of dyslexia as well as related language-based learning differences.
The IDA currently operates in forty-three branches throughout the United States and has global partners in twenty countries.
“I am privileged to serve on the board of such a distinguished organization, and I look forward to offering my expertise to the other board members who nobly give of their time in promoting the interests of the dyslexic community,” said Kurman.
As a member of the IDA Board, Kurman will help support the organization’s mission of helping individuals with dyslexia, their families, and the communities that support them.

Mr. Kurman is chair of the firm’s Labor & Employment Practice Group and regularly counsels clients on all aspects of proactive employment/labor issues. He has over 35 years experience working with employers in both the for-profit and nonprofit arenas and has special expertise working with organizations who serve individuals with special challenges.
Mr. Kurman has been variously recognized as a leading L & E attorney. He is listed in the 10th Edition of Who’s Who in American Law, a publication which profiles individuals “whose achievements and contributions make them subjects of widespread reference interest and inquiry.” He has also been selected as one of Maryland’s Super Lawyers which bases inclusion on peer reviews and evaluations . As well, Mr. Kurman has been recognized by SmartCEO magazine as a member of the 2007 Baltimore Legal Elite. Attorneys are selected for Legal Elite based on nominations by members of the local business community.
