Reflections on John Harbaugh’s recently receiving a coaching award and the Ravens’ Thanksgiving eve victory over Pittsburgh: On November 11th, “John Harbaugh was honored with the US Sport Academy’s Amos Alonza Stagg Coaching Award, named after one of the winningest coaches in football. Harbaugh guided the Ravens to the playoffs in each of his first five years and won his first Super Bowl last season. He got the most playoff wins (9) by a head coach in his first 5 seasons since the 1970 AFL–NFL merger. He did all this after making the rare leap from being a career position coach and special team coordinator. He was never previously a head coach or an offensive or defensive coordinator.” Lesson learned: It’s amazing what people can do when given a chance. Source:
