Offit Kurman mergers and acquisitions attorney Michael N. Mercurio recently represented ExpressCare, Maryland’s fastest growing and second largest urgent care company, in its merger with LifeBridge Health.
“Dr. Maurice Reid, the CEO of ExpressCare, is the most entrepreneurial physician I’ve ever had the pleasure of working with,” said Mercurio. “Dr. Reid vision for ExpressCare is very powerful and with the addition of LifeBridge Health as a partner, Express Care can now offer an expanded platform of resources, which will no doubt accelerate the execution of Dr. Reid’s vision manyfold.”
ExpressCare operates 10 urgent care facilities throughout Maryland and plans to open four more in the coming year.
“We are very excited about our new relationship with LifeBridge Health,” said Reid. “ExpressCare’s rapid growth is due to our focus on quality, service and convenience. It was important to me to have a partner that recognizes where the future of health care is going, that understands my quality of care and business philosophies, and that shares my vision to expand my business model across the state and region. I believe I have found just that in LifeBridge Health.”
LifeBridge Health currently serves more than 340,000 patients and residents annually, including patients from every county in Maryland, all 50 states, and over 80 countries. LifeBridge Health is the corporate parent of Sinai and Northwest Hospitals, Levindale Hebrew Geriatric Center and Hospital, and Courtland Hardens Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
“With the addition of ExpressCare, Life Bridge Health is well positioned to provide the most comprehensive continuum of care model in the state,” said commented Lifebridge Health president and CEO Neil M. Meltzer.
The partnership became official October 1. Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.
