The North Carolina Chapter of the Community Associations Institute is holding an HOA Board of Directors Seminar Tuesday, August 20, 2013 at the Employers Association located at 3020 West Arrowood Road, Charlotte from 5:00pm to 7:00pm .
Presenter Jim Slaughter, will be speaking about how to run effective meetings—whether board or membership meetings— meetings can be a challenge. Learn to use parliamentary procedure and Robert’s Rules of Order to make your meetings shorter and to keep them legal. Attorney Jim Slaughter will lead you through a fast-paced and entertaining look at running effective meetings, including:
• which rules to use and when to use them
• advice on frequently used motions
• voting, breaking ties, and absentee votes
• proxy votes
• budget ratification
• setting and sticking to an agenda
• efficiently recording minutes
• tips for handling disruptive members
Jim frequently speaks to community association audiences, has authored numerous condo/HOA articles, and is a member of the national Board of Governor’s of CAI’s College of Community Association Lawyers. He is also a Certified Professional Parliamentarian, Professional Registered Parliamentarian, and past President of the American College of Parliamentary Lawyers. Jim is author of The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Parliamentary Procedure. Fast-Track and Notes and Comments on Robert’s Rules, Fourth Edition and all Attendees will receive a copy of Jim’s book
