The number of worldwide Internet users increased 566% between 2000 and 2012.  The pool of available Internet Protocol numbers (also known as IP addresses) under the current numbering protocol is shrinking.  As a result, there is an increasing demand for assigned but unused IP addresses, which businesses should recognize and value as part of their intangible assets.
