John Allegretto is a Labor & Employment attorney and a member of the firm’s Employee Mobility Team. John’s practice includes the litigation of trade secret disputes and restrictive covenant claims in federal and state courts, and before the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA). In these matters, time is often of the essence. John is well-versed in seeking and defending against temporary restraining orders and preliminary injunctions. In addition to litigation, he also counsels employers on ways to mitigate risk when hiring employees from the competition, and drafts employers’ restrictive covenant and non-disclosure agreements.
As an employment attorney, John defends companies in an array of claims such as wrongful or constructive terminations, whistleblower and retaliation issues, and allegations of discrimination. John also advises employers on all manner of issues that arise from the inception of an employment relationship to post-employment, including crafting employee policies and handbooks, compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and laws, terminations, and severance concerns.
Prior to joining Offit Kurman, John worked at a Philadelphia employment litigation boutique where he represented a spectrum of clients from the Fortune 50 to local, privately-held businesses in cases across the country. John frequently offered guidance to in-house counsel, HR professionals, and line-of-business leaders. He has previously written on the Defend Trade Secrets Act of 2016.
While studying at Villanova University School of Law, John was a legal extern to the Honorable Juan R. Sánchez, now Chief United States District Judge for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, and offered pro-bono services through the Civil Justice Clinic.
