Important: Recent Maryland Legislation Significantly Impacts Most Estate Plans.
What does the new law change? On May 26, 2004, legislation was signed into law that sets the Maryland estate tax exclusion amount at $1 million retroactive to January 1, 2004. Meanwhile, the federal estate tax exclusion amount increased to $1.5 million in 2004 and will increase to $3.5 million in 2009.
