On January 27th I attended a panel discussion hosted by Tracy Turner and the Maryland Center for Entrepreneurship and the Howard Tech Council. One might think that all that needs to be said about social media has been said. Not so. Each of the platforms changes over time, and each is particularly suited to a specific demographic and/or user. New platforms seem to be emerging with its own set of prominent users. The bottom line is that social media is not going away. Maybe it should for those who contemplate divorce, as the courts are full of exhibits containing social media, but I digress. The other takeaway is that if you are not good at it, recognize that and hire someone who is. It is a powerful tool not to be squandered because the user does not have a comfort level with it. We are as good as the people with whom we surround ourselves.
