Friday Factoid – 1.4.13

In mid-2012, Google began to include in its Transparency Report the number of “take down notices” it receives. These notices ask Google to remove from its search results specific URL addresses that display material in violation of copyright laws. Since the launch of this new reporting feature, the number of take down notices Google has received increased tenfold (from 250,000 per week to 2.5 million per week).
