Practice Focus
Mr. Raftery’s practice is focused on representation of landlord’s and property managers of residential and commercial real estate. This representation includes negotiation and drafting of management agreements, leases and tenant work out agreements, policy and procedure drafting for residential fair housing compliance as well as litigation. Our services include rent collection actions in Maryland, District of Columbia and Virginia, drafting of required notices and defending claims by tenants and our clients’ vendors and employees. Our litigation practice covers small claims courts through the appellate courts (including the federal courts) of all three jurisdictions. In addition to landlord representation, Mr. Raftery handles complex litigation matters of all types with an emphasis on discrimination and business torts.

Mr. Raftery is a frequent lecturer for the Property Management Association and Apartment and Office Building Association on fair housing and landlord/tenant matters. He has attended the Virginia judges’ yearly conference to present a program to the judges on Virginia civil procedure.
